Hurricane Cruising – Are You Covered?

It’s amazing how many people choose to take a cruise during hurricane season. If you are willing to take a gamble on your vacation and risk getting caught in port, or having your cruise cancelled because of the weather, then you can get some great bargains from the cruise lines. However, if you plan to book a cruise during hurricane season, be sure you have the right travel insurance coverage.

Check out this interview with Cruise Radio on the kind of coverage you need when cruising during tropical storm season. At the very least, make sure you are covered for trip cancellation or travel delay. If you have cancel-for-any-reason coverage, you can cancel your trip at the last minute and generally get most of your cruise costs back. And if you book your air fare through the cruise line, they will do their best to accommodate you in the event of a travel disruption, but if you book on your own, then you are truly on your own.

So if you don’t mind choppy seas or the risk of getting stuck in port to wait out a storm, cruising during hurricane season can be a lot of fun. Just make sure you protect yourself with travel insurance.
